Studio LUMI's Casa Cendon Breaks Ground

Casa Cendon, a private villa designed by Studio LUMI, broke ground in late February 2026 within the Parco Naturale Regionale del Fiume Sile in Cendon, Treviso.

Since then, construction has advanced through the foundation phase. The reinforced concrete base is now complete across the full building footprint, and prefabricated timber wall panels are being erected on site. As of early April, the ground-floor structural envelope is taking shape, with the internal spatial layout already legible from above.

The 328-square-metre residence develops across two levels on a 2,000-square-metre site along the banks of the Sile River, near the Imbarcadero di Cendon. The building is organised as a series of concentric volumes: the main dwelling is complemented by a portico, each scaled to sit within the woodland landscape of the regional park.

Ecology is a foundational principle of the project. The façade pairs brown zinc-titanium panels with carbonised Italian larch cladding prepared using Yakisugi, a traditional Japanese wood-preservation technique. The dialogue between metal and carbonised timber establishes visual depth while ensuring long-term weather resistance in the high-humidity riverside environment. A pitched roof with natural drainage and a gravel perimeter replace conventional exposed downpipes, reducing maintenance and creating an organic transition between architecture and landscape.

Inside, carbonised larch continues from the exterior into the interior, complemented by deep green ripple-primed solid wood. All timber elements are solid wood throughout, prioritising healthy indoor air quality and a natural living environment.
