An Orangerie for Villa Contarini Guizzetti della Rovere
Treviso, Italy

A new Orangerie is planned for the garden of Hotel Villa Contarini Guizzetti della Rovere.
The Orangerie is a metal-framed glass hall, topped by a hipped roof with a raised clerestory, and it will hold a restaurant. Its dimensions were agreed with the heritage authority, and its envelope is light and almost entirely transparent. The decorative elements are being made by a long-established foundry, with the first official sample now cast and under review. The floor plan is complete.

The building sits within the garden, where the existing oaks, bay laurels and palms have been kept, and a low service volume alongside holds the kitchen and back-of-house.
